The Lahore Safari Zoo has announced the successful hatching of ten ostrich chicks through artificial incubation.

Zoological officials said that this is the first time that ostrich eggs have been incubated and hatched in the installation, a process that required strict environmental controls and low humidity.

A specialized configuration was developed to regulate the temperature and other essential key variables for the development of the ostrich embryo.

Veterinary and zoo staff are monitoring chicks throughout the day. Early care includes hosting newborns in rubber mats to avoid injuries, along with constant environmental support to promote healthy growth.

It is reported that chicks have good health and are thriving under a nearby observation.

The authorities have called for development an important milestone in Pakistan conservation efforts. Although ostrich agriculture gained popularity in the private sector of Punjab several years ago, most farms have closed due to financial and operational challenges.

The success of the zoo offers a renewed model for scientifically managed reproduction, and officials expect a broader interest in the sustainable conservation of wildlife.

To involve the public, Lahore’s Safari Zoo is allowing visitors to see the chicks. Officials believe that the initiative will help raise awareness about the preservation of the species and the responsible captive breeding.
