The Indiana fever guard, Sophie Cunningham, received praise on social networks on Tuesday night, since it seemed to defend Caitlin Clark with a strong fault on the Connecticut Sun guard, Jacy Sheldon.

The heated exchange of Cunningham and Sheldon became a thrust game before the players of both teams came to break it. Cunningham, Sheldon and Sun Lindsay Allen’s guard were expelled from the game with about 40 seconds before the fever took home La Victoria.

The hard foul occurred after Sheldon put Clark in the eye in the third quarter. The Sun Marina Mabrey guard then pushed Clark to the ground in what was a matter of Chippy.

When the fever kept the Sun 88-71, Cunningham was congratulated for ascending as the team’s executor.

The fever chief coach, Stephanie White, was upset with the way the referees officiated the game and about the inability to take control.

“I think it was quite obvious that things were brewing,” said White, through Indy Star. “When officials do not get the control of the ball game, when they allow those things to happen … it has been happening throughout the season, throughout the season. It is not just this game.

“This is what happens. You have competitive women who are the best in the world in what they do and when you allow them to play physical, and allow these things to happen, compete and have their backs on their teammates. It is exactly what you would expect from a fierce competition.

“I started talking to officials in the first quarter, and we knew this was going to happen. You knew this was going to happen. They have to control it. They have to be better. They have to be better.”
