- Disney has created a fun, free, interactive game within Galaxy’s Edge.
- With a MagicBand+ and a smartphone, you can join the Bounty Hunters Guild.
- Thanks to technology in the raid and throughout the territory, you can explore and find rewards.
One of the best things about a visit to the Disney parks is that you immerse yourself in the history of whatever park you find yourself in, and the company is known for going the extra mile. One of the best examples is Galaxy’s Edge, which is located at Disneyland in California and Disney World in Florida.
The Imagineering arm did not skimp on details; I mean, you can walk to the Millennium Falcon (and pilot it or part of it with Smuggler’s Run), go on a mission in Rise of the Resistance, or just walk around Batuu spending credits and drinking blue or green milk. You may even see a Wookie, a resistance hero or a Stormtrooper.
However, one of the most immersive aspects hidden in plain sight is the ability to become a bounty hunter, much like Mando in The Mandalorian. You can use your MagicBand+ with an iPhone or Android app (or just the latter) to join the Bounty Hunters Guild and scour Batuu in search of rewards.
It’s one of the many advantages of a MagicBand+, which you most likely already have to enter the park and can use to interact with other aspects around the parks, including other attractions and even putting on a mini light show during the fireworks and the parades.
But how does this work on Batuu? Well, when you enter Batuu at Disney World or Disneyland, your MagicBand+ will glow and you’ll need to find a terminal to sign up for the Bounty Hunters Guild. You will connect your bracelet to the terminal and a reward will be assigned to you. From there, it’s a bit of a scavenger hunt (rather, a bounty hunt) around the Black Spire Outpost area of Galaxy’s Edge in either park. As you get closer to where a reward might be hidden, your MagicBand+ will light up and vibrate, either faster or slower, to basically tell you if you’re hot or cold.
Once you identify an area, you’ll pull out your iPhone or Android phone and open the ‘Play Disney’ app, which in turn transforms your phone into a Data Pad scanner that epic technology allows you to scan and see behind doors or walls. . You may find the reward you are looking for and be able to capture it. This is all possible thanks to AR (augmented reality) overlaid on your phone’s camera, but when you’re in the park, it takes you more into yourself. star wars history.
It’s also an example of when technology isn’t front and center, but instead creates a sense of wonder or magic behind the scenes, like Disney Imagineer’s beautiful path to success. Through the power of technology in wearable sensors that can interact with sensors throughout the land (and at the same time be your park entrance, payment, reservation unlocking and more), it can also be used to offer interactive gameplay.
If you’re in Galaxy’s Edge with a MagicBand+, I encourage you to try the Bounty Hunters’ Guild, and while it may not be as exciting as an actual journey, of which there are two to follow, it’s a little more adventurous because you never know. what you can find.
Once you have earned any rewards, you can go back to the terminal and see how many credits you can get. And the best? You can get another reward and explore more of Batuu, and it’s very repeatable, with lots of different rewards to potentially get. And considering that Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters first arrived on the scene in 2022, it’s something of a sleeper hit and leads me to wonder what experience could be in store next.
