JJ Span is not afraid to admit that he received a little help in his open -winner of the United States.

Matching Viktor Hovland in the final round, Spaun and Hovland landed their approach shots in 18º 18 in inches to each other.

At that time, Hovland was practically out of the race, but Spaun needed two putts to win his first specialty.

Hovland was out and his putt was lost by little. Spaun had practically an identical line, and drained it from 64 feet.

Of course, Span’s probability to win the tournament in that green was relatively high, and perhaps he did not need Hovland’s help at all. But Spaun admitted his plans to go around Hovland.

“I have to give a good bottle of wine or something, whatever you want,” Spaun told “The Dan Patrick Show.”

“That was a good teaching, and I think that is only one of the things that your way has to follow to win not only a championship but also an important championship, and I am happy to have taken advantage of that little advantage.”

Spaun shot 66-72-69-72 to finish his week as the only player under the pair in Oakmont.

Xander Schauffele defends the open conditions ‘fair’ in Oakmont: ‘Everyone had to play the same course’

Oakmont was how it was announced this week, with some of the best in the game such as Rory Mcilroy, Shane Lowry and more, struggling to find answers for his hard Greens, thick roughness and the torrential rain that fell on Sunday certainly did not help things for those who compete for the championship.

However, the toughest golf test this year was domesticated by Span on Thursday when he went as a field leader after 18 holes, shooting a low 66. He returned on Friday and did not see the same results, going 2, but he certainly wasn’t out of it.

After publishing a 1 under on Saturday, Spaun knew that he was in a position to run in his first older one, but the beginning of Sunday was not what he had in mind.

Spaun had five bogeys in its first six holes, when it began to fall for the classification. In the past, Span has said that he will discourage with this type of performance, but while he was straightening his Sunday ship, a weather delay stopped at stake.

When he returned to the course, a different spaun emerged. The back of the back was really his, firing torque in the first two holes before the Birdying 12 hole and then the 14 hole to obtain its round to 3 in the day.

At this point, multiple players were in the hunt, separated by a shot, if not tied in the classification. Spaun returned one with a bogey in 15, but it was money in hole 17 and 18 with consecutive birdies to seal the victory.

While his putt in 18 was incredible, Spaun’s impulse in 17 landed perfectly less than green, and rolled up for an opportunity in Eagle. While that putt was lost, he would bury his next little more than three feet with the opportunity to win 18.

Spaun also completed his father’s day with his daughters Emerson and Violet, as well as his wife Melody, with a celebration in the 18th Green.
