Santa Petersburg: President Vladimir Putin has refused to talk about statements that Israel and the United States can try to kill the supreme leader of Iran, Ayatolá Ali Khamenei.

He said that the Iranian people are standing with their leaders in Tehran.

The Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has openly speculated that Israel’s military attacks could lead to regime change in Iran, while the president of the United States, Donald Trump, said on Tuesday that the United States knew where he was “hiding” Khamenei “but that Washington was not going to kill him” for now. “

When asked what his reaction would be if Israel kill Khamenei with the help of the United States, Putin said: “I don’t even want to discuss this possibility. I don’t want to.”

When he was pressed, Putin acknowledged that he had heard the comments of possibly killing Khamenei, but repeated that he did not want to discuss them.

“We see that today in Iran, with all the complexity of the internal political processes that take place there … that there is a consolidation of society regarding the political leadership of the country,” Putin told the editors of the Senior news agency in the city of St. Petersburg in northern Russia.

Putin said that all parties should look for ways to end hostilities in a way that assured both the right of Iran to peaceful nuclear energy and Israel’s right to unconditional security of the Jewish state.

Putin was talking while Trump kept the world guessing if the United States would join the bombing of Israel of Iranian nuclear and missile sites, while the residents of the capital of Iran left the sixth day of the air assault.

He said that he had been in contact with Trump and Netanyahu, and that Moscow had shared his ideas to resolve the conflict while guaranteeing the continuous access of Iran to civil nuclear energy.

Iranian nuclear facilities

Questioned about the perspective of regime change in Iran, Putin said that before embarking on such a way, one must assess whether the central objective was really being achieved.

He added that Iran’s underground uranium enrichment facilities remained intact.

“These underground factories exist, nothing has happened to them,” Putin said.

“It seems to me that it would be correct for everyone to look for ways to end hostilities and find paths so that all parts of this conflict reach an agreement,” he said. “In my opinion, in general, you can find such a solution.”

When asked if Russia was prepared to provide Iran modern weapons to defend against Israeli attacks, Putin said that the Treaty of Strategic Association signed with Tehran in January did not include military cooperation, and Iran had not submitted any formal request for assistance.

Russia’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Ryabkov, said Wednesday that Moscow was urging the United States not to attack Iran, warning that such action would radically destabilize the Middle East.

A spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also warned that Israeli attacks Iranian nuclear facilities risked to trigger a nuclear catastrophe.

Putin said Israel had assured Moscow that Russian specialists who helped build two additional reactors at the Bushehr nuclear energy plant in Iran would not be damaged in any air ataño.

He added that Moscow had “a very good relationship with Iran” and that Russia could safeguard Iran’s interests in the field of nuclear energy.

Russia has offered to have an enriched uranium of Iran and supply nuclear fuel for its civil energy program.

“It is possible to guarantee Iran’s interests in the field of peaceful nuclear energy and, at the same time, address Israel’s concerns about his safety,” Putin said. “We have outlined our ideas from the United States, Israel and Iran.”
