Travis Kelce entered this low season surrounded by uncertainty. The 35 -year -old faced questions about whether the loss of Kansas City bosses against the Philadelphia Eagles would be the last time he tied his NFL tacos.

Kelce finally decided to continue playing the game he loves.

“I will return safe. I will try to enter the best way I have been in this low season and return to the top of the mountain,” Kelce wrote in a text message to Pat Mcafee that ESPN’s host read during his program. “I have a bad taste in my mouth with the way I played in that last game and with how I prepared the boys for battle. I can’t go out like this!”

This week, Kelce said that although perhaps he looked briefly away, he never firmly considered retiring.

“I love football. I don’t think I really thought about it,” Kelce told the media gathered on Wednesday at Chiefs Minicamp. “… I love coming to work every day. It was not very difficult for me. I know I’m getting old, but at the same time, I still feel that I can try in this league. That said, it really was not a difficult decision for me.”

Kelce finished the loss of the Super Bowl with four receptions for 39 yards. The closed wing expressed its regret for its forgettable presentation in the game, telling journalists that “he felt that my boys fail.” But he added, “I really didn’t feel my last game was.”

The Chiefs have played in the last three Super Bowls, winning two. Kelce reaffirmed his desire to raise the coveted Vince Lombardi trophy once again at the end of next season.

Anything less than another championship would be a failure in Kelce’s eyes. “That is the only way I determine whether it is a successful (season),” he said. “This is how I’m connected now.”

Kelce fell short of the 1,000 -yards reception last season. The regular season with 823 yards ended.

Kelce said he will worry about his future game after the 2025 season. Meanwhile, he remains focused on trying to help Chiefs be the last team next February.

“I get a year in this contract, I know, and we will try to discover something for next year,” Kelce said. “The Chiefs organization knows how much I love you. I can’t see myself playing anywhere else. We will deal with that in the future when it is the right time, but at this time I am focused on winning a championship this year.”
