Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s chapter by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa of the National Responsibility Office has issued a formal call for the superior politician Mohammad Azam Khan Swati in relation to an ongoing investigation on the alleged illegal withdrawal and the misuse of government funds.
The investigation was launched under sections 18 (C) and 19 of the National Responsibility Ordinance (NAO), 1999, focuses on financial irregularities involving officials of the District Account Office in Kohistan and associated entities. The case refers to the government funds listed under month 323205.
According to the notice, NAB received a complaint that suggests that Swati can have relevant crucial financial documents for the case. He has been ordered to appear before the Combined Research Team (CIT-I), Investigation Wing-I, at the NAB Regional Office in Phase-V, Hayatabad, Peshawar.
Swati has been asked to be presented on June 23, 2025 at 11:00 am, together with the complete records of all payments received from M/S Kohistan Associate and Builders during the year 2024.
“In the light of the nature of the accusations, it has been observed that it is in custody of important records relevant to the case,” says the notice, emphasizing that documentation is essential for fair and exhaustive investigation.
The notice also warns that breach can lead to a coercive action under the relevant provisions of the NAO, 1999.
The call notice was signed by Muhammad Kamran, deputy director (coordination), on behalf of the director, research wing-i.
This development occurs in the midst of greater scrutiny of alleged appropriation of public funds in several KP districts, as NAB increases their repression of current and previous government officials.
