  • Americans have noisy protest before bedtime outside the ice agents.
  • The protest of “No Sleep for Ice” aims to interrupt the dream of ice agents.
  • Critics denounce federal immigration agents for using facial masks.

After the night he fell on the outskirts of Los Angeles on Thursday, around 50 people hit metal pots and criticized air horns outside a hotel in a noisy protest before bedtime immigration agents.

The “No Sleep for Ice” rally stressed the growing anger for immigration and application of customs (ICE), an once dark agency that has become the focal point of the migrant repression of President Donald Trump.

“They terrorize our community all day. Why do you sleep well the night?” Nathanael Landaverde, 23, said, who hit a dismantled pan in the protest.

Dramatic images have shown federal agents, often masked and, sometimes, armed with assault rifles, chasing migrants and handcuffed in court, farms and in the streets.

ICE officials have also arrested some US citizens for allegedly surviving arrests, including a candidate for mayor in New York this week.

The hard hand approach has caused fear among immigrants and enraged many Americans, particularly in liberal cities such as Los Angeles, where large -scale street protests exploded this month on ice raids.

“If they do not sleep, they will not do their job effectively. They will get fewer people,” added Landaverde, while the vehicles that passed touched the apparent support for the night rally.

It was not safe if ICE agents were staying at the three -star hotel, but protests organizers claimed to have photographic evidence.

Dozens of people danced to a deafening cacophony while stirring the signs that said “not resting by ice” and “ice outside the angels” to the hotel, where some guests looked through the curtains.

A woman simply shouted in a megaphone. Another man had earmuffs while criticizing the distorted white noise through a speaker.

“They are tearing families, and it is horrible to see in my community. They can’t sleep if they are going to do that here,” said Juliet Austin, 22, who was playing a small blue accordion.

‘Secret police’

Trump was chosen for a second mandate largely for his promise to deport thousands of migrants.

But together with their aggressive tactics, critics have denounced federal immigration agents for using facial masks to hide their identities, a very unusual but legal practice in the application of the United States Law.

“We will find a secret police at what point?” Walter Olson, main member of the group of experts from the Cato Institute, wrote last month.

“For the Trump administration, converting masked raids in standard practice fits a broader effort to dodge the responsibility for potentially illegal and unconstitutional actions,” he added.

In California, legislators have introduced the “Secret Police Law” that restricts federal agents by using masks.

Federal officials have rejected this criticism in stating that agents use masks to protect them from possible reprisals.

Meanwhile, ICE has frequently boasted about its activities and has published photos of migrants arrested on social networks.

And, what is crucial, still enjoys the support of Trump, who last weekend praised the “incredible strength, determination and courage of ice agents.

Even so, the anger for the ice seems unlikely to disappear while the immigration arrests continue, and the protesters on Thursday did not become that they would not go back.

“I think it’s a modern deed here in the United States,” said Austin, a dance teacher.

“This city is not the one that should get … we will not let it happen. We are not tired,” he added.
