Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has firmly condemned the recent US military attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling them a serious violation of international law.
According to a statement from the prime minister’s office on Sunday, Sharif transmitted Pakistan’s position during a phone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The American strikes followed eight days of what Pakistan described as “unjustified and unjustified aggression of Israel.
“The prime minister expressed a deep concern that US attacks would have addressed the facilities under the safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency (OIEA),” the statement said. “These attacks constituted a serious violation of international law and the statute of the OIEA,” he said.
Sharif also recognized Iran’s right to self -defense under article 51 of the United Nations Charter, but emphasized the urgent need to return to dialogue and diplomacy.
“The only viable path is through diplomatic commitment,” he said, urging collective efforts to decline regional tensions. He reiterated Pakistan’s preparation to play a constructive role in promoting peace.
Premier reaffirmed the “unwavering solidarity” of Pakistan with the Iranian people and the government. He also extended condolences for the loss of lives and prayed for the rapid recovery of the injured.
In response, President Pezeshkian thanked Pakistan for his support and solidarity, including the support of his military leadership. “The two leaders emphasized the urgency of forging the unity between the UMMAH at this critical situation,” the statement added.
Washington enters into Iran conflict
