After the earthquake tremors in the area of Malir, panic and disturbances extended among the inmates in the Malir district prison. As reported, the prisoners in Barracks two of Circle 11 began to shout, demanding that they let him out.
The prison administration requested police reinforcement and the rangers, which came in a matter of minutes. The prison authorities then used speakers and urged the prisoners to keep calm, after which the situation was controlled.
However, due to security concerns, surveillance and monitoring in jail have been tightened even more, as recently, similar tremors in Malir prison caused chaos to explode, after which more than two dozen prisoners escaped. Most of them were returned to custody.
