A Pakistan Army soldier was martyred and four terrorists were killed after security forces foiled an infiltration attempt along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Khyber district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, during the night of 19-20. December, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. in a statement on Saturday.
According to the ISPR, security forces engaged the terrorists in Rajgal area after detecting their movements. During the ensuing gunfight, Sepoy Amir Sohail Afridi, 22, a resident of Khyber district, fought bravely and embraced martyrdom.
The ISPR also reiterated Pakistan’s concerns over cross-border terrorism, highlighting Islamabad’s repeated requests to the interim government in Kabul to prevent the use of Afghan territory by terrorists carrying out attacks against Pakistan.
Earlier, security forces successfully carried out an operation in Tank district, killing seven terrorists, including a key member of the banned militant group ‘Fitna al-Khawarij’.
According to security sources, the operation took place on the night of December 17 to 18, following intelligence reports about the presence of militants in the area. Forces carried out an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) in response to the information.
During the operation, one of the most wanted militants, Ali Rahman alias Maulana Taha Swati, a senior leader of ‘Fitna al-Khawarij’, was also killed. Seven other militants were also neutralized in the operation.
In a series of coordinated operations in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, security forces killed 11 terrorists, including Khawarij members, the army’s media wing reported on Wednesday.
According to the ISPR, the first operation took place in Tank District, where intelligence directed forces to detect the presence of Khawarij. During the operation, security personnel clashed with the terrorist group, resulting in the death of seven militants.
