Karachi:
The Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) has decided to install electronic doors in the three main airports in the country: Karachi airport, Lahore airport and Islamabad airport.
The electronic doors that will be installed in the international arrival and exit rooms of the airports will simplify and accelerate the immigration process and international travelers will no longer have to wait in long lines.
Electronic doors will also use artificial intelligence (AI) for the biometric documentation and identification of passengers and the project, including the installation of around 100 of those doors, it will be completed in 2 years.
According to PAA officials, German experts have ended the basic design for electronic doors. During their visit to Pakistan, they also held a three -day workshop in Karachi. The PAA also made consultations with other interested parties, including the Federal Research Agency (FIA).
They said that the project reflects a commitment to provide modern state -of -the -art facilities and is part of the efforts to bring Pakistan airports to international standards.
The project aims to offer a safe, scalable and technology -based solution for the main airports in Pakistan. According to the agreement, the consultants perform satisfactorily.
The additional director of Engineering Services, Adnan Ahmed, told Express PAkGazette, a world -renowned German M2P firm was selected for the electronic doors project that began in September last year.
As part of the process, a team of German experts visited Pakistan and after extensive consultations in Karachi, completed the basic design for the project. During his three -day workshop, it was explained that electronic doors are self -service systems that automate the immigration process.
This improves the travel experience for passengers by saving time and reducing the discomfort. One of the key benefits is that passengers do not have to interact directly with immigration staff. The system will be useful for both passengers and border officers and will also introduce security improvements.
