- The code in Watchos 26 suggests that a new privacy settings are approaching
- It would allow you to hide the data into complications until your clock is unlocked
- Health data will always be hidden in a blocked watch
Apple’s Watchos 26 update contains a lot of useful settings, but Apple has announced everything new, and it seems that a secret feature has been discovered in the Beta Watchos 26 that could bring an interesting change to its clock faces.
The Macrumors collaborator, Steve Moser, has apparently discovered code in Watchos 26 Developer Beta that brings a new configuration to his watch: the ability to show or hide data within complications while his watch is blocked.
In practice, this would mean that you could disable complications in the face of your clock, such as climate information, battery level, calendar information and more, to appear until your clock unlocks. This is something similar to an iOS configuration that can obscure the notification content until your iPhone is unlocked.
The, err, complication Here is that Macrumors has not been able to find where this configuration is located. A Reddit user has supposedly been able to activate it, but they did not explain how they did it or where they found the configuration.
Privacy protection
The additional one to this supposed configuration is that your Apple Watch will never show your health data when your device is blocked, regardless of whether it activates or deactivates the function. This is to protect your private health information from people who could otherwise see it (and potentially misuse).
One of Apple’s strengths is its commitment to the user’s privacy, and this can be seen in many of its products and devices, from its private ICLOUD relay that obfusca its internet activity to private capacities of calculation in the cloud of its Apple Intelligence AI model. The company even fought and won a very public battle with the FBI about access to user devices, and has strongly withdrawn against attempts to compromise its end -to -end encryption policies.
That means that it should not be a big surprise that Apple is adding more privacy characteristics to Apple Watch with Watchos 26.
It is likely that we will find similar instances in the coming weeks and months, while Apple refines its software betas and prepares them for complete launch, probably in September together with Apple Watch’s 11 series, Apple Watch Ultra 3, Apple Watch Se 3 and the iPhone 17 line.
