Pittsburgh Pirates Star Oneil Cruz has gone through a few games.
Cruz’s error and the disheveled effort after a past ball in the central garden raised their eyebrows last week, and then, on Tuesday, he was removed from the game after he lost the notion of outs.

The pirates manager, Don Kelly, took Cruz after he could not run out of a double game against Milwaukee brewers. It was based on a double play 6-4-3. Kelly said Cruz was eliminated due to “energy and effort on the line.”
Cruz told reporters through an interpreter who understood the decision.
“DK had all the rights to do what he did, and I will support him in that,” Cruz said. “It was my fault because I thought there were two outs in that situation. That is why I let the first base run.”
Kelly said he and Cruz spoke later, and communicated their expectations.
Cruz suffered a field error against the Texas Rangers. He judged a ball and saw her roll to the fence in the first post of that game.

In addition to everything else, Cruz is not hitting as the toleter who has promised to be. He has hit .156 with 31 strikeouts this month. In general, he is hitting .211 with an OPS of .736 and 13 home runs. He leads the National League with 26 stolen bases, but leads MLB with 101 strikeouts.
“He is fighting on the plate at this time,” Kelly said. “It is difficult when you are going through that and you try to solve it. He is working hard to do that. That is something that we must take into account, it is not to let that offensive move to the defense and the base race, and the energy and the effort we are also giving in any other aspect of the game.”
Cruz argued that his problem in the Basepaths had nothing to do with his depression on the plate.
“They are a very good example,” Cruz said. “They always run hard. They always go out to do their 100%. That is a teaching point for me. I accepted the way DK came to me and explained it to me and I introduced it.”

Pittsburgh fell to 32-48 this season after losing 9-3 against the brewers. The pirates have 20-22 since Kelly assumed the position of Derek Shelton as manager.
