A Delegation of Azad Jammu and Kashmira (AJK), led by former AJK prime minister, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, officially joined the Popular Party of Pakistan (PPP) at a meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari at Casa Zardari, Karachi. The delegation included AJK’s government advisor on Sardar Ahmad Saghir, MLA Ali Shan Soni and Sardar Umar Tanveer, said a press release issued by President House’s press wing. During the meeting, the delegation announced its decision to join the Popular Party of Pakistan (PPP). President Asif Ali Zardari welcomed the delegation and congratulated them for joining the party.
