FlagG was the best consensus selection in this year’s draft process after having one of the first most electric years in the history of university basketball last season. Flagg was the best classified in the nation when he promised Duke in October 2023, and took the Blue Devils to the Final Four.

He obtained the first All-America Honors team, becoming Duke’s first player from Zion Williamson and Rj Barrett in 2019. FlagG also secured the AC Player and Rookie of the Year awards, a feat achieved by just another Duke player previously (Williamson).

His first -year season also included breaking the first -year record record of a single Duke and ACC game with 42 points in a January victory against Notre Dame.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks ended with the rights to choose Flagg after a controversial and questionable Draft lottery that took place on May 12. Dallas ended up winning the first general selection in the Draft despite having only a 1.8% chance to obtain the best selection after finishing the season with a 39-43 record.

The team wanted to win the lottery, but mysteriously ended with the number 1 team. The lottery occurred months after the Mavericks made a questionable exchange to send to the superstar Luka Doncic to the Lakers of the Los Angeles of LeBron James in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a first round of 2029 Doncic

James promoted Flagg in the latest edition of the podcast “Mind the Game”, presented by James and the member of the Hall of Fame Steve Nash.

“Personally, I think he wants to be great. He had a one -year hell in Duke. A guy who can do so many different things on the floor. He can play with the ball, he can play without the ball. His jumping shot will continue to improve,” James said.
