The group tagged itself as the “coalition of athletes and artists that support the political objectives of President Trump”.

The letter stands out three main points in its proposed reform: Clemence for “non -violent” marijuana crimes, support for rescheduration of marijuana and completion of “discriminatory banking practices”.

The first point of the letter indicates the previous forgiveness of Trump’s musical producer, Weldon Angelos, who was sentenced to 55 years in prison in November 2004 for marijuana positions. Angelos was released in 2016 and then forgiven by Trump in December 2020. The letter also criticized former President Joe Biden for lack of measures to address the imprisoned related to marijuana.

“Today, people continue to fulfill long federal prayers for behavior that is now legal in most states, which makes their continuous imprisonment not only cruel but absurd. After making radical promises to voters in 2020, former President Biden did not comply with his injustices related to marijuana. Pending the application for clemency related to marijuana,” says the letter.

“We believe that this betrayal only underlines the urgent need for bold leadership, and represents an opportunity to correct the obvious disparities as part of the continuous impulse of its administration for the reform of criminal justice.”

The second point in the letter urge Trump to reclassify the drug of an annex I substance to an annex III. The difference in the respective schedules, which are determined by the Drug Control Agency (DEA), determines how drugs are seen in terms of their abuse potential against the medical application.

Annex I substances have a high potential for abuse and do not have a medical use accepted in the US. They also have a high potential for psychological and/or severe physical dependence.

Annex III substances have a moderate to low potential for physical and psychological dependence compared to medications Annex I and II, and have accepted medical use in the United States.

“The current classification of marijuana as a substance of schedule I is scientifically outdated, economically harmful and disagrees with modern medical understanding,” says the letter. “Reprogramming marijuana would harmonize federal law with state policies, promote innovation, promote research and promote economic growth.”

The end point in the letter arguing against the “discriminatory banking practices” points out that Trump has opposed an previous US initiative. UU. Called “strangulation operation”, which investigated the banks and the business they did with the concessionaires of firearms, the lenders of days of payment and other companies that, while legally operated, were at high risk for the frudil.

The group argued that marijuana companies have also been affected by that initiative and other banking practices.

“State cannabis operators, including many of us, banking services have also been unfairly denied despite the full fulfillment of state law,” said the letter. “Despite legally operating in 40 states, using more than 450,000 Americans and generating more than $ 35 billion annually, these companies face unfair barriers to banking services, and their employees fight to obtain mortgages from traditional lenders.

“In addition, cannabis companies cannot take standard commercial deductions, which leads to effective tax rates often exceeding 85%. While foreign cannabis companies benefit from the listings on US exchange.

The other figures that appear in the letter to the White House include former NBA players Steven Jackson, Chris Webber, JR Smith, John Salley and Al Harrington, former NFL players Jim McMahon, Kyle Turley, Champ Bailey, Marvin Washington and Tony Richardson, and former Boxers Boyd Melson Melson, Paul Willias and Keith Thurmon.

The entertainment figures in the letter are the streamer Adin Ross, the Raperos Lil Pump and Ralo, and the musician Wyclef.
