London: Three key members of the reigning champions of the Super League of the Pakistan (PSL) Lahore Qalandars are ready to block horns in Australia, but this time, as opponents such as the Big Bash League (BBL) is prepared for another exciting season at the end of this year.
Pakistan’s rapid bowling duo and Lahore Qalandars, Shaheen Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf, along with the Kent and Kent Wickt-Kekeeper batter, Sam Billings, have been signed by different franchises in the BBL.
The trio, who held fundamental roles in the recent triumph of Lahore Qalandars in the tenth edition of the Super League of Pakistan, as well as to help them become champions in 2023, will now test their temper with each other in the Australian T20 League of High Octana.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, who took Lahore Qalandars to his third victory for the title in the PSL and, therefore, became the most successful captain in the history of the tournament, must make his debut in BBL with Brisbane Heat.
Rauf returns to Melbourne Stars, while Billings will once again put Sydney Thunder.
During the recent trophy tour of the United Kingdom of Lahore Qalandars, celebrating his last PSL victory, both Shaheen Afridi and Sam Billings were eager to face each other.
While talking with PakGazette News, Shaheen Afridi shared his emotion to join Brisbane Heat and play in the iconic Gabba.
“I hope to enjoy my time with Brisbane Heat,” Shaheen said. “The special thing about Gabba is that fast bowling players love to play. I have played some games there in the past and I had a good success. So I have a lot of hope that with the team and management, I will have some wonderful moments and I hope to have a good performance for them.”
When asked about the possibility of facing his teammate and his voiding partner Haris Rauf on the BBL, Shaheen responded with a naughty smile:
“I hope he [Haris Rauf] He does not dare to play against me. If you do, I will hit it for many six!
On the other hand, Sam Billings, who has built a strong camaraderie with Shaheen and Haris during his time in Lahore Qalandars, was equally excited about the next competitions.
“Well, I’m anxious to face Shaheen Afridi,” Billings told PakGazette. “He is a quality artist, one of the best bowling players in the world, but I hope to have good battles against him. But he is my brother.”
Billings also praised the growing influence of Pakistani talent in international leagues T20.
“Shadab [Khan] He is also there in my team. Then, true Pakistani influence, which is fantastic. I mean, Pakistan talent for Crick is phenomenal. And it’s great to see those people get the recognition they deserve. “
As the BBL is approaching, fans can expect some delicious clashes, especially when these qalandars turned into rivals take the field. Whether it is Shaheen in Billings or Haris facing his captain, the tournament promises intense competition and a CamaderĂa de Cricket celebration.
Other Pakistani Crickets that have signed for the next BBL edition are Babar Azam (Sydney Sixers), Mohammad Rizwan and Hassan Khan (both renegades from Melbourne), Hasan Ali (Adelaide Strikers) and Shadab Khan (Sydney Thunder).
