Panel formed to stop hate speech online


Islamabad:

The newly formed cybercrim guard dog in the country has formed a special committee to ensure the surveillance of social media platforms to suppress hate discourse and sectarian content during Muharram’s sacred month.

On the instruction of the country’s higher security tsar, Mohsin Naqvi, general director of the National Crime Investigation Agency Cybernesism (NCCIA), has formed a committee of 18 members.

According to a notification issued by the general director of the NCCIA, Waqaruddin Syed, the Committee will be directed by an additional director, Ayaz Khan, while a deputy director will convene, Akram Mughal.
