Islamabad: A mild earthquake hit Pakistan Central on Sunday morning, as the United States geological service said that it was the tremor of magnitude-5.3 on the Richter scale.
However, the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) reported that the magnitude of the earthquake was 5.5.
There were no immediate reports of victims or damages of the shallow earthquake, that the USGS reported that it had occurred around 3:30 am (2230 GMT), with the epicenter of around 60 kilometers (37 miles) north of the northeast of Barkhan, a city in the mountainous province of Baluchistan of Pakistan.
However, the Euro-Mediterranean seismological center reported that the epicenter was located 149 km (92.5 miles) west of the city of fine. The GFZ declared that the tremor was shallow, at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles).
Meanwhile, the tremors also felt in Musakhel and in nearby areas after a moderate earthquake hit the region.
According to the seismic monitoring center, the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.5 and occurred at a depth of 28 kilometers. The epicenter was located about 56 kilometers northeast of the Musakhel district in Baluchistan.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. The authorities are monitoring the situation.
Pakistan is located along the boundary between the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plaques, which makes it prone to earthquakes.
The region can be difficult to achieve during emergencies: in 2015, an earthquake of magnitude of 7.5 in Pakistan and Afghanistan killed almost 400 people in resistant lands that hindered help efforts.
The country also experienced a devastating earthquake of magnitude of 7.6 in 2005 that killed more than 73,000 people and left around 3.5 million homeless people, mainly in cashmere controlled by Pakistan.
The province of Baluchistan, the largest in Pakistan, was beaten by an earthquake in 2021 that killed at least 20 people and wounded more than 10, with land landslides that slow the early rescue operations in the remote mountain district of Harnai.
