South Punjab to obtain electronic businesses with priority

Punjab Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif ordered the provision of more electric buses for districts in southern Punjab.

By chairing a meeting in which the transport department informed him of his projects and the progress made in the electric bus project was reviewed, the main minister said that remote areas should have priority in the provision of electric buses.

She emphasized: “The culture of always giving each new installation to large cities must be changed. We will bring rural areas along with the main cities.”

She ordered that 240 electric buses be granted priority to 24 districts. In the first phase, 240 will be provided and electronic buses will be provided to relatively underdeveloped districts.

Between August and October, 500 e-Buses will be provided for Lahore, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, fine and Rawalpindi. From November to December, 600 additional electric buses will arrive in Punjab.

The prime minister stressed: “Under the Punjab’s clean air program, 400 electric buses will be provided to Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur and Lahore.”

A detailed review of the Gujranwala Bus Transit Project was carried out. To connect the entire city and suburban areas, 80 feeding buses will be launched. In the BRT system 22 km long from Rahwali to Eminabad, 28 stations will be established.

A proposal was also reviewed to extend the Gujranwala BRT route. The BRT system will provide bidirectional transport every eight minutes.

Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif issued directives that traffic along the Gujranwala BRT route should be administered through an intelligent traffic control solution. For this project, four electric bus deposits will be established in Gujranwala.

At the meeting, progress was also reviewed in Orange Line and Red Line transport systems in Faisalabad.

The red line will have 23.4 km long, with 24 stations, and more than 185,000 passengers are expected to transport daily. The orange line will have 29 km long, with 21 stations, and it is expected to transport more than 111,000 passengers daily.

On the instruction of the main minister, the Route of the Fiedmc to Salami Chowk has been included in the project.

The main minister ordered the Department of Transportation to immediately initiate all public welfare projects, and said that E-Bus routes should be determined while keeping public trips in view.
