The former senator ensures bond in case of murder

The additional judge of the district and the sessions, Rawalpindi, Majid Hussain Gadhi, approved on Saturday the bail for medical reasons of Chaudhry Tanveer Khan, former senator of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N).

Tanveer was arrested in the case of murder of Chaudhry Adnan, a former MPA of PTI and former provincial parliamentary secretary. The Court ordered its immediate release, subject to the presentation of two bail bonds by value of RS1 million each, which were rapidly provided.

Despite having been arrested, Tanveer was admitted to the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) due to a serious heart condition, with a police guard parked outside his hospital room. After the approval of the bond by the Court, prison officials and police personnel were withdrawn according to the instructions of the Superintendent of the Adiala prison, effectively restoring the status of former legislator as a free citizen.

Chaudhry Tanveer had voluntarily delivered on June 17 before the Rawalpindi Bank of the Superior Court of Lahore (LHC) withdrawing its request for bail prior to the arrest.

The police arrested him from the courtroom and obtained a two -day physical return, after which he was sent to judicial custody, but entered the hospital due to his heart condition.

He had been accused of conspiring and planning the objective murder of Chaudhry Adnan, who was shot dead near the door of the police lines in Rawalpindi. The FIR was registered on February 12, 2024 at the Linnes Civil Police Station, appointing Chaudhry Tanveer, Osama Chaudhry, Daniyal Chaudhry and Chaudhry Changz as suspects.

During the bail hearing, the court observed that the evidence about the accusation of conspiracy was insufficient, which led to bail approval. The defense was directed by lawyer’s defender Malik Waheed Anjum, while co-abogado Chaudhry Yasir Advocate declared that the surrender was voluntarily made to guarantee fair and transparent investigation, and would continue to pursue the case to prove the innocence of their clients.

On the other hand, the lawyer’s lawyer, Shehzad Bhatti, announced that the bail decision would be challenged in the Superior Court of Lahore (LHC).
