5.5 Hits of Baluchistan magnitude earthquake


At least three people were injured on Saturday when an earthquake of magnitude of 5.5 hit the district of Musa Khel and its neighboring areas in Baluchistan.

The tremors felt throughout the region, with the epicenter of the earthquake located 56 kilometers northeast of Musa Khel at a depth of 28 kilometers, according to the earthquake monitoring center.

The earthquake caused significant damage in Musa Khel, where two houses were destroyed and three others suffered partial damage.

Rescue sources confirmed that three residents were injured due to collapsed buildings. Fortunately, injuries were reported as minors.

The Provincial Authority for Disaster Management (PDMA) has already started help operations in the affected area.

The PDMA spokesman declared that the equipment is evaluating the full scale of the damage and distribution of tents to offer temporary refuge to those displaced by the earthquake.

Previously, tremors were reported in the district of Barkhan, Baluchistan. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

According to the United States Geological Service, the earthquake that hit Barkhan had a magnitude of 3.9 and occurred at a depth of 12 kilometers. His epicenter was located 59 kilometers northwest of Barkhan.

The authorities monitored the situation, although no significant effects were observed.
