WAPDA signs contract for reform study

In a significant step towards institutional excellence and modernization, the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) has signed the Institutional Assessment and Reform Consulting (IARC) contract with a consortium led by Ginger Sofreco (France), GME (Uruguay ) and Warm Waters Advisory. (Pakistan).

The initiative underlines Wapda’s commitment to adopting international best practices, streamlining operations and ensuring sustainable development.

The contract signing ceremony was presided over by Wapda’s presiding engineer, Lieutenant General (retd) Sajjad Ghani, and attended by senior members of the authority, along with representatives of consulting firms, according to a Wapda statement issued on Saturday.

On the occasion, Director General Planning (Hydro), Dr. Khawar Munir highlighted the importance of the initiative undertaken by Wapda. “This reform study is not just a project, it is a commitment to embrace innovation, modernize operations and guarantee sustainable development through strong institutional reforms,” ​​he stated.

IARC is a World Bank funded project with a total value of Rs 1,140 crore. The IARC effort is designed to comprehensively evaluate Wapda’s organizational structures, functions and resources.

This comprehensive assessment will provide insight into the organization’s strengths and areas for improvement, ensuring a clear path to greater efficiency and effectiveness.
