A corridor that connects two buildings near Imam Bargah in Barri in the Kharadar area of Karachi collapsed on Monday, catching at least 22 people, rescue officials said.
The roof of the runner and a ladder built at the top gave way, leaving the residents of both buildings, including those of the three upper floors of a six -story structure, unable to leave.
The rescue teams and the police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and launched an evacuation operation with snorkeling equipment.

Until now, 11 people have been rescued. Victims have not been reported at this stage.
The operation to extract the remaining trapped residents is ongoing. The building was old and in a deteriorated condition, which may have contributed to collapse, rescue officials said.
