Complementary Budget of RS509B approved

LAHORE:

The Punjab Assembly approved 38 demands on Monday to assess more than RS509 billion in complementary budget for 2024-25 in the absence of the opposition.

The opposition protested by the extraction of its four members as presidents of permanent committees.

The Minister of Finance, Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, said that this year’s complementary budget was approximately RS510 billion, adding that the Government had assigned RS266.6 billion for development.

He said the government had preferred development projects to serve people instead of wages.

He said the government had spent RS126 billion on the road network. The subsidy demands in the complementary budget include more than 46 billion rupees for the Police Department, RS3 billion for irrigation, RS16 billion for health services, RS13 billion for public health and 4 billion rupees for agriculture.

The five opposition cutting movements were rejected in the absence of their members.
