Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar welcomed the formation of the government’s negotiating committee and expressed hope that all issues would be resolved in the shortest possible time.
In a statement, he said, “We welcome the announcement of the committee by the government and it is a positive step. Negotiations between the government and the PTI must be comprehensive and result-oriented.”
He further added: “I am hopeful that a productive solution to all the problems will be found in the shortest possible time. Both committees are made up of serious people and the negotiations will definitely progress. We are optimistic that the negotiation process is about to begin “
It may be noted that earlier Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formed a negotiating committee comprising members of the ruling coalition on the proposal of the Speaker of the National Assembly.
The committee includes Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Rana Sanaullah Khan, Senator Irfan Siddiqui, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Naveed Qamar, Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Aleem Khan and Chaudhry Salik Hussain.
It is also worth mentioning that last night, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar had requested the Speaker of the National Assembly to play a role in facilitating the negotiations. PTI members in the committee include Umar Ayub, Asad Qaiser, Salman Akram Raja, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur and Sahibzada Hamid Raza.
The PTI ultimatum enters the last hours
The PTI’s ultimatum to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led federal government has entered its final hours, with the party warning that it will begin a civil disobedience movement if talks between the PTI and the government do not begin. on Sunday.
On the one hand, the imprisoned PTI founding president reiterated that the call was still underway, ordering the party leadership to prepare for the first phase of the movement. On the other hand, current PTI president Barrister Gohar remains cautiously optimistic and reveals that National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has assured him of the formation of a committee to facilitate negotiations.
Confirming a contact between the PTI president and the NA president, government sources revealed that the president told Gohar that he would approach Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and request to form a committee for talks with PTI leaders. They said Barrister Gohar approached the NA spokesperson and asked him to play his role as custodian of the house. To this, they added, the speaker responded affirmatively but committed nothing.
