Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to work with the provincial disaster management authorities to develop a coordinated program aimed at preventing incidents such as the recent swat tragedy.
He made these comments during a visit to the National Emergency Operations Center of the NDMA (NEOC) in Islamabad on Tuesday. He also directed the compilation of exhaustive reports on such incidents, noting that around 49 people have lost their lives, with several other injured, throughout Pakistan.
Praising the installation of Vanguardia Neoc, Sharif said that the Government would provide all the necessary assistance to strengthen the institute and improve its capacity.
Prime Minister Shehbaz revealed that the Minister of Planning Ahsan IQBAL and the Minister of Climate Change, Musadik Malik, has commissioned to ensure subsidies and investments, instead of loans, through public-private partnerships aimed at building resilient infrastructure in Pakistan.
When addressing water safety, he expressed concerns about the provocative actions of India with respect to the Indo Water Treaty and announced that the Government would build non -controversial water storage facilities using Pakistan’s own resources.
The prime minister also highlighted the vulnerability of Pakistan to climate change, noting that the country is now increasingly susceptible to cloud bubbles, despite contributing little to global emissions of greenhouse gases.
He also emphasized that the recent devastation caused by sudden glacial fusion due to an unprecedented heat wave requires the highest level of preparation to mitigate future risks.
