- The iPhone 17 air will apparently have only 5.5 mm thick
- That is even thinner than the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge
- However, now it is very likely that only has a rear camera
The iPhone 17 Air is a rumored phone that, regardless of what more can be good or bad about it, will be judged by how thin it is. After all, being thin seems to be your USP. And on that front, it could be a success.
In a new YouTube video, Frontpagetech (through Notebookcck) has stated that the air of the iPhone 17 will have only 5.5 mm thick, which would do it even more thin than the Samsung Galaxy S25 5.8 mm thick border. While that is just a difference of 0.3 mm, this could be a great victory for Apple, since the S25 Edge would be the main competitor of this phone, and it is also sold to being thin.
Of course, we would take this claim with a pinch of salt, especially because Frontpagetech has a mixed history. But lately they have been right more frequently than they have been wrong, and this leak is widely in line with the air leaks of the previous iPhone 17, although one places it by a little thinner and another to a 5.65 mm thicker. However, in all cases, the leaks suggest that Samsung’s rival phone will hit that forehead.

Committed cameras and a positive level price
However, the iPhone 17 air will probably not have the Samsung Galaxy S25 EDGE beat in any other way, since this last filtration, among many others, suggests that the iPhone 17 air will have only a 48MP camera. That is in contrast to a double lens camera on the S25 edge, which consists of a 200MP main sensor and an ultra camera of 12MP. Therefore, it seems that Apple probably prioritizes thinness over photography.
Other specifications have also been leaked here, and again they echo what we have heard before. This includes an A19 chipset, but not A19 pro-, 12 GB of RAM and a 6.6-inch screen with an update speed of 120 Hz.
The video also highlights the battery, saying that Apple will use one with a silicon anode, to achieve a higher density than it would be possible, and that this, along with an efficient modem and a chipset, could mean that the air of the iPhone 17 will last almost as much as the iPhone 17 base, despite the limited space for a battery.
Finally, the video touches the price, stating that the iPhone 17 air will cost approximately the same amount as the iPhone 16 Plus, a telephone that begins at $ 899 / £ 899 / AU $ 1,599. This is also in line with multiple previous leaks.
We should find out if all this is correct or not in September, since it is when the air of the iPhone 17 is expected to be launched, together with the rest of the iPhone 17 series.
