Karachi:
Almost 50,000 police people will be deployed for the security of Muharram’s processions in Sindh, main minister Sharjeel Inam Memon who addresses a press conference said Thursday.
The tense geopolitical situation of the region aggravated by the collaboration of anti-state elements with the hostile neighbor guarantees greater security for Muharram’s mass meetings.
Sharjeel said the Sindh government has made infallible security agreements for Muharram.
The most important thing was the Ummah unit to defeat the designs of the country’s enemies to use Muharram’s days for fans of sectarian hate and violence.
The principal minister declared that Prime Minister Murad Ali Shah held meetings with academics from several schools of thought to ensure harmony and reviewed the security plan for meetings and processions.
Sharjeel told the media that 14,546 police personnel for meetings and 35,116 for Muharram processions would be deployed, with more than 14,000 additional personnel assigned to guarantee the safety of all events.
He announced that a total of 49,662 police personnel in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas and Shaheed Benazirabad from 8 to 10 of Muharram will be deployed to avoid adverse incidents and maintain peace.
He stressed that, although the Sindh government tolerates criticism, it will not allow anyone to issue its policies. He added that the government had also proposed to assign a large designated area for protests to ensure that public life is not affected.
Traffic plan for three days of Muharram
The Traffic Police has announced a special traffic plan for the eighth, ninth and 10 of Muharram. According to the plan, Ma Jinnah Road will remain closed from Guru to send the tower in all three days due to security concerns. The main processions of Muharram will begin from Nishtar Park and will conclude in Hussainia IranĂ Imambargah, through their designated routes. Vehicles with special decades issued for the procession will be allowed to join.
According to the plan announced for traffic, Nazimabad travelers can travel through Lasbela Chowk through Nishtar Road and Garden. Those who come from Liaquatabad can turn right in Teen Hatti towards Lasbela Chowk or the left towards Central Jail and Martin Road.
Motorists who come from Hassan Square and go to the PP Chowrangi can use Cashmira Road under the elevated passage, Society Light Signal, Sharah-E-Qaideen and Nishtar Road through Teen Hatti and Lasbela Chowk.
Sharea Faisal travelers to Sharah-E-Quaideen and Noorani Kabab Numaish can take a right turn at the traffic light in society towards Cashmiro Road. Those who go to Guru Mandir or Ma Jinnah Road through the jail or Jamshed Road can take Bahadur Yar Jang Road and pass through the soldier Bazaar. Similarly, those in Garden Zoo who go to Ma Jinnah Road will be diverted through Anklesaria to Gul Plaza or Coast Guard, near the Holy Hospital.
All heavy and commercial vehicles from Super Highway or Gulberg to Ma Jinnah Road will be diverted from Liaquatabad No10 to Nazimabad Chowrangi No2, and then they will continue through Habib Bank Flyover, State Avenue Road and SHERSHAH to Mauripur. The same route will apply for the return.
Heavy traffic from the National Highway will take Sharea Faisal or Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road, Hassan Square, Liaquatabad No10 and Nazimabad Chowrangi No2 towards Mauripur, and will follow the same return route.
The traffic police spokesman clarified that small or large vehicles will not be allowed beyond Guru Mandir Chowk on the procession route. All that traffic will deviate towards Bahadur Yar Jang Road and Soldier Bazaar. Vehicles with stickers will be allowed the entrance of Sharah-E-Qaideen through the company’s light signal.
Participants who arrive from Nazimabad can enter through Lasbela, Al-Bela, Garden Jamat Khana, Soldier Bazaar No3 Traffic Traffic to Numaish. Those of Liaquatabad, Teen Hatti, Jehangir Road, Guru Mandir, Society Signal, Gulistan-E-Johar, Gulshan-E-Iqbal, University Road, Old Sabzi Mandi, Kashmir Road can also through Numaish.
Vehicles that distribute Niaz or Tabarruk will only be allowed to enter the procession from the tower near Memon Masjid. No vehicle will be allowed to park along the procession route. D
