Islamabad:
Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) has decided to present a reference against four members of the National Assembly (MNA) who defected the Pakistan-Nawaz Muslim League (PML-N) after being chosen with the support of PTI.
According to PTI leader Asad Qaiser, the party ended its plan to take measures against these legislators for deviating from the party policy during the vote on the 26th constitutional amendment.
The reference will be sent to the President of the National Assembly and the Electoral Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Last year, the four independent members backed by PTI, including Usman Ali, Aurangzeb Khichi, Mubarak Zeb and Zahoor Qureshi, voted in favor of the 26th Constitutional Amendment bill in the National Assembly.
The measure helped the government obtain 225 votes, exceeding the required 224.
The amendment 26 significantly altered the country’s judicial system, including the provisions for judicial appointments, the possession of the president of the president of the President and the composition of the Judicial Commission.
“These members won their seats in the PTI tickets and now they have joined the PML-N. We have asked the party to send a disqualification reference to the speaker and the ECP. Let’s see what measures they take,” said Qaiser.
Previously, Qaiser had said that independent candidates backed by PTI, who supported the constitutional amendment, betrayed the party already its founder, Imran Khan.
“Those who voted [in favour of the bill] They have committed betrayals against the party and its founder, “Qaiser said.
