More than 900 personnel to administer Ashura processions in Rawalpindi

To guarantee a soft and safe movement during the YOM-E-ASHURA processions, the Rawalpindi Traffic Police issued a detailed plan, deploying more than 930 officers and personnel throughout the city.

The arrangements, supervised by the high traffic officer Munir Hashmi, are aimed at managing the movement of the heavy crowd and avoiding traffic congestion during the one -day event.

The deployment includes a superior traffic officer, ten deputy superintendents of the Police (DSP), 72 senior traffic guards and around 850 guards and traffic assistants. The authorities have prepared special traffic deviations and road closures along key procession routes to maintain order and safety.

In Ashura, traffic will be fully blocked on the section from the Chowk Committee to Iqbal Road. A complete deviation will be made in Dav College Chowk, with the entrance to College Road restricted. When the procession arrives in Naya Mohalla, access from Dav College Chowk to Fawara Chowk will also be closed.

Traffic director Beenish Fatima assured the public that infallible traffic safety measures would be implemented. He explained that public service vehicles will be redirected by Dav College Chowk, while private vehicles will be diverted from Gawalmandi through Dhok Kumhar to Bhusa Godam.

A secondary detour at the Mashriq hotel in City Saddar Road will guide traffic to Saddar and Mohanpura through Cinema Chowk and Ganjmandi Road to Pirwadhai.

Additional deviations include the closure of all traffic from Cinema Chowk to the Kashmir Bazaar, redirecting vehicles through the Traffic Camp to Saddar. Near the city police station, the traffic will be guided to Ganjmandi Road, then towards Dhok Hassu and Pirwadhai.

The routes in Shah Allah Ditta Road will deviate through Dhok Dalal, TB Hospital, Pirwadhai and Asghar Mall. Near Bakery Chowk, the vehicles will be redirected to Banni Chowk and Link Road, moving through Saypur Road and circular Road A Liaqat Bagh through Murree Road.

Funs will also apply in Hamilton Chowk and Bensawala Chowk, with restricted entrance near Dingi Khoi and the great mosque. The traffic that goes to Imambargah Baltistania through Pir Chowk will be completely blocked.

For the processions that begin from the satellite city, traffic will be diverted at several points, including the New Town police station, the Punjab Faculty of Commerce, Hayat Wali Hospital, the Aziz elder home, Banni Chowk and Kohati Bazar.

Cto Fátima urged citizens to cooperate with traffic authorities and follow the instructions for their safety. He also instructed the officers to remain vigilant and guarantee a soft traffic flow through coordinated efforts, while advised to the public to communicate with the emergency portal if necessary.
