- More support options for Pixel 6A owners have been revealed
- You can get a $ 100 or $ 150 payment in Google Store credit
- Google has configured a website where you can make your claim
The long Google Pixel 6A battery saga continues, and Google has now provided details of how telephone owners 2022 can claim up to $ 150 (around £ 110 / AU $ 230) of the company, money that could be used for a new phone.
If you are only up to date with this story, Google is in the process of implementing a mandatory update for some 6a Pixel phones that could be in danger of overheating. In recent weeks there have been multiple reports of these phones that caught fire, which is obviously something that Google does not want it to continue.
The update “will reduce the battery capacity and load performance” according to Google, and will appear as part of Android 16. However, only some 6A 6A phones are affected and in danger of overheating: Google has not provided too many details about this, but can verify if your device will be included through the Google website.
Now 9to5google has discovered some additional details. Pixel 6A owners will obtain three options: a free battery replacement for your phone, $ 100 (around £ 75 / au $ 155) in cash, or $ 150 (around £ 110 / au $ 230) in the Google Store loan.
How to claim
The battery replacement option means that the battery limits established by Android 16 will be deleted again, although you will have to do without your phone for a few days while Google is responsible for the repair work.
Whatever the option you prefer, you can go here to choose it. You must provide your email address and the IMEI number (identity of international mobile equipment) of your phone to demonstrate your eligibility: you can find the IMEI number of your phone by addressing On the phone From the configuration.
I cannot exceed the steps on the Google site because I do not have an IMEI Pixel 6A number to use, but the screenshots are captured by 9to5google show that Payoneer will be used to deliver the compensation in cash. If they are outside the US, the figures of $ 100 or $ 150 will become their local currency.
Interestingly, 9to5google informs that some users have received coupons for $ 125 (around £ 90 / au $ 190) to devote themselves to a Google Pixel 9A (retail price $ 499 / £ 499 / AU $ 849), so verify its entrance tray, although apparently these coupons cannot be used with the credit of $ 150.
