Suspicious reserved to hunt brewers in Islamabad

A case has been registered at the Kohsar police station after the illegal murder of a barking deer in the Hills of Margalla, authorities said on Saturday.

The suspects named in the FIG include Bashir Abbasi and Zain Abbasi, residents of Gokina Village, which is located in the Margalla Hills area. The case was presented in Ayesha Shehzad’s complaint, deputy director of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board.

According to the complaint, the defendant illegally killed a rare species of deer known as barking deer. The authorities have recovered the remains of the animal, including their skin and skull, as evidence.

The case was recorded in sections A-4/12 and A-16 at the Kohsar police station. These sections carry sanctions that may include a fine of up to RS10 million, prison for up to one year or both. In addition, section 379 has been invoked, which is related to theft and entails a maximum sentence of three years in prison.

The incident had caught the attention of the Federal Minister for Climate Change, Musadik Malik, who realized and ordered an immediate investigation into the matter.

The minister condemned the murder, which came to light after a video that shows the killing circulated on social networks. He stressed that hunting and killing wildlife in protected areas is a serious violation of environmental laws and will not be tolerated.

Musadik Malik ordered the relevant authorities to carry out an exhaustive investigation and submit a report as soon as possible.

In addition, he stressed the government’s commitment to protect wildlife and guarantee the strict application of conservation laws throughout the country.
