Islamabad:
The Permanent Committee of the Cabinet Secretariat of the National Assembly, on Thursday approved the bill of public officials (amendment) 2024 with a majority vote.
The bill proposes several provisions, including the declaration of mandatory assets for government employees, accelerating the correct size process and the abolition of redundant departments.
According to the amendment bill, all government employees must declare their assets. The federal government has power to abolish or fuse departments that are inactive or that have become a financial burden.
The bill also proposed that redundant employees withdraw after offering them a financial package instead of placing them in a surplus group. PBS1-5 works will subcontract the private sector to reduce pension invoices.
The bill also recommends the relaxation of age for the recruitment of public officials. Young officers can receive up to 10 years of age relaxation for new appointments.
Several members expressed concern regarding the amendments proposed during the meeting. PML-N leader, Tahira Aurengzeb, argued that saying goodbye to degrees 1 to 5 would lead to an increase in crime.
