Ben Askren continues to fight against pneumonia. On Wednesday, former Olympic fighter and MMA star revealed that he had undergone a double lung transplant.
His wife, Amy, said that in a series of social media publications, Askren was placed on a fan in June and placed on a donor list for a lung transplant on June 24.
Jake Paul, the YouTube star, Jake Paul, took a moment to direct some praise towards his former opponent. Paul described Askren as “one of the toughest fighters” during his battle with a serious infection.

“I enjoyed Ben Askren. I just demonstrated that he is one of the toughest fighters of all time,” Paul wrote in X Wednesday.
Paul’s comments appeared shortly after Askren said “only died four times” before a lung transplant.

“Without memory. Zero idea. I have no idea what happened,” said Askren in a video posted on his social networks about what he remembered most of the last six weeks. “I just read my wife’s diary. It’s like a movie. It’s ridiculous. He only died four times, where the ticket stopped for about 20 seconds.”

Askren also said he lost approximately 50 pounds during the 45 -day stretch.
“The most impeccable for me was all the love I felt,” said Askren. “It was almost as if I had to have my own funeral.”

Askren won consecutive wrestling titles of the NCAA in Missouri and competed at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games for the United States before moving to MMA, where he fought for Bellator and a championship. Later he turned to the UFC octagon.
Askren moved away from MMA after a defeat against Demian Maia in 2019. He had a 19-2 record with one without a contest.
He has history with Paul. The fighters gathered in a match in April 2021. Paul won the fight for technical knockout in the first round.
