Walker Buehler, the star pitcher who recorded the final out to seal the Los Angeles Dodgers’ World Series victory in 2024, has found a new home in the MLB.
Buehler has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the Boston Red Sox to add more fire to their rotation for next season.
The agreement is worth $21.05 million, according to various media. Yahoo Sports adds that an additional $2.5 million can be earned in performance bonuses.

Boston has been loading up on starting pitchers this offseason, most notably trading for Garrett Crochet in a deal with the Chicago White Sox earlier. They also signed another lefty, veteran Patrick Sandoval, to a two-year contract just a few days ago.
The Red Sox also have Tanner Houck, who is coming off a big year, Lucas Giolito, Kutter Crawford and Brayan Bello to round out a good starting mix for 2025.

Buehler’s career has been interesting to watch, as he was one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball from 2018-2021, chopping and chopping hitters as the Dodgers’ potential ace of the future.
However, things took a turn in 2022 when he needed to undergo Tommy John surgery, his second after needing it in 2015, when the Dodgers selected him in the first round of the MLB Draft.
Returning to the rotation in 2024, Buehler was terrible, pitching to a 5.38 ERA with a 1.55 WHIP in 16 starts.
But when the postseason rolled around for Los Angeles, Buehler stayed in the rotation and looked like the pitcher of old, running his wicked 12-6 curveball and spiking his fastball wherever he wanted.
Buehler finally closed out the ninth inning of Game 5 of the World Series against the New York Yankees, pitching on a day’s rest after providing five outstanding innings earlier in the series.
With all that said, seeing what would happen with the 28-year-old in this free agency period was something baseball experts and fans alike were curious about.
Now, we see the Red Sox offering a good deal in which Buehler can prove that what was seen in October is what to expect in the future, or at least that is the plan in a one-year deal.
Buehler has a career 3.27 ERA in 131 games and 731.2 innings pitched with 754 strikeouts and 190 walks.
