- Apple’s M5 M5 MacBook Pro could have been delayed up to 2026
- No reason has been given for the apparent postponement
- It means that Apple could launch two MacBook Pro models next year
In recent years, Apple has launched a new Macbook Pro in autumn as a clock, but this year, all that could change. This is because a new report has affirmed that the M5 MacBook Pro could be withdrawn in early 2026, with Apple supposedly “pointing internally” that date instead of the regular liberation window of the late year.
The surprising news comes from Bloomberg’s journalist Mark Gurman, who has been a reliable source of Apple leaks and rumors in the past. Gurman’s last report contradicts his previous reports, which suggested that the M5 MacBook Pro would be presented near the tail at the end of 2025. That implies that something has changed Apple’s mind about when to push the new portable computer to the attention center.
Gurman has not provided a reason for the delay, so the cause of Apple’s decision is a assumption of anyone. That said, the journalist pointed out that the moment is “fluid”, which suggests that there is the possibility that the next MacBook Pro may appear before this 2025 ends.
Even so, the launch of a MacBook Pro at the beginning of the year is not exempt from precedents, since the M2 MacBook Pro, for example, was launched in January 2023. Even so, that model has been the exception in the Era of Apple Silicon, with editions M1, M3 and M4 MacBook Pro leaving in the fall.
Disappointing delays
What could be causing this delay? Gurman did not offer any track here, and it is not clear immediately what could be Apple’s thinking process.
It is likely that the M5 Macbook Pro is a minor update, with Apple’s new M5 chip is the main differentiator between you and the M4 MacBook Pro. That means that problems with the chip could be one of the main reasons for the delay. Alternatively, Apple could be maintaining the device until 2026 for sales reasons.
Next year it could be great for the MacBook Pro, with a redesigned model that arrives at the end of 2026. This version is scheduled to come with a new design and an OLED screen, marking the largest update of the MacBook Pro since the last revision in 2021.
But with the M5 Macbook pro potentially crawling in 2026, we will have to do if the OLED Macbook Pro also unfolds in the long grass as a result.
