New York, NY – Two of the best boxers in the world of all time completed their trilogy on Friday night, and was a sweep of three fights.
Katie Taylor won her third victory over Amanda Serrano at Madison Square Garden, the same place where her epic trilogy began more than three years ago.
The first fights had controversial punctuation cards: the first was a divided decision for Taylor, and the second, although Taylor deduced a point and landed 107 less blows, resulted in a unanimous victory for Taylor.

This was also highly disputed, and a judge ruled it a draw. But two others gave a 97-93 victory to Taylor, giving him the majority decision.
Initially, Taylor avoided saying that there was some additional pressure for Friday’s fight given the circumstances of the first two fights, doing it again shortly after the victory. However, in the ring, he let out a thunderous celebration of “let’s”, almost as if Serrano could simply beat her, and admitted that it was “very satisfactory.”

“There is always some pressure on these fights. It is normal to feel a little pressure, but I felt no more pressure than previous fights,” Taylor said after the fight. “Every fight in which I have been involved are great events. There is always a bit of relief when the hand is raised. Complete joy. All hard work pays, all the sacrifices you are doing, it is an exhausting sport, so it is a relief when your hand rises.”
There is not much left to say about Taylor, and there is not much more to achieve: it has shown that it is the best of this generation, and perhaps of all time, defending their WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF super light for a person who is easy in the mount of Rushmore women.
Retirement is an option, but it is not ready to commit in one way or another.
“I wouldn’t say that I have anything to prove,” Taylor said. “But I’m going to sit and relax and make a decision on whether I will fight again in the future.”

Taylor improved 25-1 in his illustrious career, while Serrano now has 47-4-1, with three of those losses against Taylor.
