Six dead, 38 wounded when the bus is submerged in the ravine near Chakri Interchange

At least six people, including women and children, were killed and another 38 wounds after a passenger bus fell into a ravine near the Chakri exchange on the M-2 highway on Sunday, according to the reports due to the speed of a slippery and soaked rain road.

According to the officials, the unfortunate bus, operated by a private transport company, was on the way to Rawalpindi to fine and had 43 passengers at the time of the accident. The vehicle slid out of the road near Chakri and immersed himself in a deep throat.

The highway police, the 1122 rescue and other emergency services quickly responded to the scene. The injured received first aid on the site before being transferred to several hospitals. It is reported that seven of the injured are in critical condition.

The initial accounts suggest that the controller was at speed despite the bad visibility and slippery conditions. A female survivor, in a recorded video while talking with a 1122 rescue officer, declared that the vehicle was completely full and that the driver ignored the warnings of passengers to reduce speed, which led to the mortal clash.

Among the deceased were Saima Subhan, 50 years old from Karachi, Samina Nasir, 50, from Mian Channu and Faheem, an 18 -year -old boy from Wah Cantt. Naheed from Pir Mahal, Muhammad Ashraf, 35, and Iram Batool, who succumbed to his wounds later in the hospital, also confirmed dead.

Among the injured there are 11 children between one and 17. Of the 38 wounded, 23 were taken to the Hospital of the Chakwal District, eight to the Institute of Medical Sciences of Pakistan (Pims) in Islamabad and seven to the Rawalpindi hospital of the DHQ Hospital. The bodies of the deceased were transported to district hospitals in Chakwal and Rawalpindi.

Chakri police, directed by the Sho Masood inspector, have initiated a formal investigation into the incident. The authorities have not yet confirmed whether the driver and his assistant are among the injured or dead, since they could not be located in the scene.

The highways police and district officials said investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident and determine responsibility.
