The member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, John Elway, will avoid charges for the death of his agent Jeff Sperbeck, who died in April for injuries suffered in a golf car accident, an official said Friday.
Riverside County, California, Sheriff Chad Bianco told 9News in Denver that the fatal golf cart accident was nothing more than a “tragic accident” and that research on death has been completed.

“It ended. We have talked to everyone involved and we found nothing new. There was nothing criminal, it was what we have been saying all the time that was a tragic accident,” Bianco told the station.
Sperbeck, 62, died in a golf course in California when he fell from the golf cart that Elway was driving. The Riverside County Forensic Office ruled that his death was accidental due to blunt head trauma.
“I have looked at the video 100 times and there is no explanation of why it fell, it simply fell,” Bianco added.

After the death of Sperbeck, Elway issued a statement.
“I am absolutely devastated and disconsolate by the death of my close friend, business partner and agent Jeff Sperbeck,” Elway said in a statement, through ESPN. “There are no words to truly express the deep sadness I feel with the sudden loss of someone who has meant a lot to me.
“My heart and my deepest sympathies go out with Jeff’s wife, Cori; her children Carly, Sam and Jackson; and all who knew him and loved him. Jeff will be deeply surprised by loyalty, wisdom, friendship and love that brought my life and the life of many others.”
