Islamabad:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Monday to expand the tax base and reduce the burden of taxes on the poor was among the main priorities of the government.
I was presiding over a meeting to review the progress in the digitalization of the Federal Income Board (FBR), the implementation of a system based on artificial intelligence (AI) and other reforms.
Learning the availability of simple tax statements in Urdu, the prime minister said that an aid line must be established to help with the process of submitting tax declarations and digital billing must also be launched in URDU. “In fiscal reforms, the approach must remain in the convenience of the common man,” he added.
The prime minister directed the validation of third parties so that all FBR reforms maintain transparency. He said that for the comfort of the public, the tax statements have become extremely easy when making them digital, concise and linked to a centralized database. He said that salaried persons will benefit more from the new simplified tax statements.
The prime minister instructed that a public awareness campaign should be launched on the ease of tax declarations so that more and more people can submit their statements under the new system.
He also instructed that small and medium enterprises should receive special support to join the digital billing system.
Digital economy
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Monday that the highest priority of the government was to bring transparency in the economy through the digitalization system.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed pleasure about the Pakistan Stock Exchange that crosses a historical level of 135,000 points, saying that he reflected the confidence of the business community in Pakistan’s economy.
The prime minister, in a statement, said that the current positive economic indicators showed that government policies moved in the right direction.
He said that providing an environment conducive to the business community was the priority of the government.
