Two tracking dogs of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police (KP), accredited with frustrating dozens of terrorist plots, have been officially removed after serving for a decade.

The dogs were part of the Special Unit for the Elimination of Bombs and Security that operated in Peshawar and the tribal districts.

These British -raised traced dogs played a fundamental role in pump elimination operations and provided security authorizations for high profile officials, including prime minister, prime minister and governor.

They were also fundamental to clean the routes and detect dozens of suspicious items during several security operations.

According to Adil Abdal, director of the K9 unit of K9, the dogs worked closely with the Police Department, Contracerroism (CTD) and other law enforcement agencies during numerous search and strike missions.

Their efforts neutralized two important explosive (FDI) devices and helped maintain key routes safe from possible threats.

Due to age, dogs were removed but they remain valuable assets of the KP Police. After retirement, they have attracted a significant interest of the people willing to adopt them.

A Peshawar police officer highlighted the key role of dogs for sensitive periods such as Muharram and VIP visits, pointing out their ability to detect threats in advance, thus improving security measures.
