“USMS allows members to register for the category of competition that are aligned with their identity and/or gender expression and participate in events sanctioned in that category,” said the new guidelines.

“However, swimmers will not be included in the recognition programs (as defined above) unless they are swimming in the category of competition that are aligned with their sex assigned to birth or meet the eligibility requirements” described in their statement.
