LAHORE:
Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) has approached Jamat-E-Islami (JI) to mediate with the federal government for the release of its imprisoned founding president, Imran Khan.
The confirmation came from Ji Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, who revealed that PTI’s high level leaders had contacted him some time ago, asking the party to facilitate dialogue with the government.
According to Hafiz Naeem, Jamaat-E-Isami made it clear that such mediation would only be possible if PTI formally orders JI to lead these conversations in his name.
“We converted a party meeting and decided that if PTI provides a clear mandate and remains firm in position, we are ready to facilitate discussions with the government,” he said.
In addition, he emphasized that the country is going through a critical situation and that all political interested parties must work together to advance Pakistan.
“We have made it clear that mediation is only possible if both parties come with unequivocal positions. We will not be part of any processes fogged by ambiguity,” Hafiz Naeem added.
The deputy of Ji Ameer Liaqat Baloch also confirmed that PTI leaders, including lawyer Gohar Khan, Senator Azam Swati and Ali Amin Gandapur, had contacted him in February 2025. He revealed that the discussions at that time belonged to the government’s formation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to what Ji had responded positively.
It is noteworthy that PTI launched a 90 -day national protest campaign on July 13, asking for the launch of Imran Khan. Meanwhile, the Federal Government has announced the formation of a new security force, a measure that has caused strong criticism of opposition parties.
Political analysts suggest that the successful mediation of Jamaat-E-Islami could be essential to break the predominant political point in the country.
