Matt Fitzpatrick made a miraculous Birdie in Hole 16 during the first round of the championship opened in Royal Portrush on Thursday.
Fitzpatrick, 30, hit a rebel iron shot that left 13 yards from the pin and downstairs. When he aligned to hit his second shot, he was well below the hole.
Despite having a difficult shot, Fitzpatrick immersed himself in his shot in his birdie. The English golfer could not have achieved his shot more perfectly, since he extended from the bottom of the flag and towards the hole.

The Birdie moved Fitzpatrick to a draw for the first place in 4 under par. Fitzpatrick is tied with Jacob Skov Olesen and Haotong Li, who are at the time of writing this at the top of the classification.
Fitzpatrick started the day well with an eagle in the second hole. He immediately returned a blow with a Bogey in the third hole.

However, that Bogey would be the lonely Bogey of Fitzpatrick’s day, since he had a pair or better in each hole after that.
Fitzpatrick had been playing strong outdoor golf, since he ended up in an eighth draw in the rocket classic at the end of June and ended in a quarter for the room at the Scottish Open last week.

Fitzpatrick has two victories of PGA Tour de Carrera, and one of them arrived in a specialty, since he won the Open of US 2022. The last tournament he won was the RBC Heritage in 2023.
Fitzpatrick attended Northwestern University and became a professional in 2014.
