LAHORE:
Pakistan railroads have made a 2% increase in passenger trains in view of an increase in the price of high speed diesel (HSD). This increase in rates will enter into force as of today, July 18.
An office memorandum without date seen by the Express PAkGazette ordered the director to guarantee the announcement of the new rates on the public relations website.
The railroads have also increased the rate of their load trains that transport coal by 3% and trains that transport rock phosphates and fertilizers by 2%. These walks will be applied as of July 21.
The Government increased on Tuesday the prices of oil products in up to RS11 per liter for the second half of July in a regressive step that will probably exacerbate people’s economic difficulties.
According to a notification issued by the Finance Division on July 15, the price of gasoline increased by RS5.36, from RS266.79 to RS272.15 per liter, while the price of the HSD increased by RS11.37 per liter, from RS272.98 to RS284.35 during the period from July 16 to 31.
This increase in the HSD price increased the cost of public relations operation by RS4 million [39,86,500] per day and around R199 million [119,500,000] per month. On average, the PR consumes around 350,000 liters of HSD daily.
