- A code chain in Samsung Beta Software mentions the name of Galaxy Z Trifold code
- He also mentions the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset
- Code or no code, we would be surprised if this chipset was not used
It is likely that Samsung’s first triple telephone will land soon, with recent leaks that suggest that it could be launched at some point in October with the name of Samsung Galaxy Z Trifold, and now we have a good idea of what set of chips could also be feeding it.
In a new internal beta of an UI 8 (which is the interface that Samsung uses on its Android phones), Android Authority has seen a code chain that includes ‘SIOP_Q7MQ_SM8750’. That might seem meaningless, but, according to reports, ‘Q7MQ’ is a code name that has been previously linked to the Trifold Galaxy Z, while ‘SM8750’ is the model number of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
So, assembling that, certainly looks a lot like Samsung Galaxy Z Trifold will be driven by Snapdragon 8 Elite.
The obvious choice
However, this is not surprising at all; In fact, it would be surprising if that chipset is not used. After all, this is the upper chipset currently available for Android phones, and is also used by the Samsung Galaxy S25 series and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.
So, although it is not impossible that the Trifold Galaxy Z can use something else, as perhaps the exynos 2500 made by Samsung used in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, it would seem like a strange choice for what will surely be the company’s most expensive phone to use anything other than the best chip set.
Even so, it is always possible that Samsung has chosen to keep the cost low using something else, so it is still reassuring to see the Snapdragon 8 elite mentioned here, even if that means that this tri-gloss phone will probably be exceptionally expensive.
The mention of the Snapdragon 8 Elite also suggests that we will see the phone soon, since at the end of 2025 we will probably begin to see the first phones with the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, so if Samsung was not launching the Galaxy Z Trifold in the coming months, the company would probably opt for the next generation of this chipset.
But while this code chain is convincing evidence, we still cannot be totally sure that Snapdragon 8 Elite will be used.
We may discover it in October, but the reports suggest that Trifold Samsung Galaxy Z could initially be available in China and South Korea, so it is possible that I cannot buy it anyway. However, if it is a success, we would expect a more widely available successor.
