In the absence of Caitlin Clark of the WNBA stars game, Sabrina Ionescu won the 3 -point contest on Friday night. Ionescu won the event for the second time in his career.
Liberty’s star guard, who also won the title in 2023 with a record performance, had a strong final round, scoring 30 points to overcome the defending champion Allisha Gray.
“It’s fun, I was so excited about her that we were talking about that before we came here,” said Ionescu. “About being able to participate together and encourage each other.”

Ionescu’s effort was less than its 37 record brand two years ago, when it made 25 of 27 shots, the greatest amount in the WNBA or the NBA. The total of 30 coincided with the second highest in the event, combining with the Allie Quigley brand. Quigley is the only other player who won the contest more than once, doing it four times.
Ionescu did not participate in the 3 points WNBA All-Star contest last year, since it was focused on preparing for the Olympic Games. But she was in Indianapolis for the NBA, competing against Steph Curry in a special shooting. She fell short then, but she would not lose again in Indianapolis.

“I called Steph and showed the trophy,” said Ionescu.
The star of Indiana Fever, Lexie Hull, who was a filling for Indiana teammate, Caitlin Clark, who injured her right groin on Tuesday night, scored 20 points to finish fourth. Clark promoted the crowd from the bank before Hull’s turn.
Meanwhile, Ionescu Liberty teammate, Natasha Cloud, won the skills competition.
Cloud had the fastest time in the first round of the obstacle career that combines the passage, dribble and shot. I needed to overcome Erica Wheeler’s mark of Seattle of 37.5 seconds in the final. Cloud won despite losing the three shots from the corner on the defender of the wind mill. He was able to overcome the obstacle race in 36.4 seconds: 1.1 faster than Wheeler.

Cloud received $ 55,000 from Aflac as part of an association with the WNBAPA. It also receives $ 2,575 from the Victory League, which was part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Ionescu won $ 60,000 for its Aflac victory plus $ 2,575 of the League.
This was the first weekend appearance of Cloud stars in his 11 -year career. She had never been invited to compete in the skills contest or play in the star game.
