President Donald Trump implored the owners of the NFL Washington’s commanders and the MLB Cleveland guardians to return to the old nicknames of organizations in a publication on social networks.
Daniel Snyder changed the name of the Washington’s team of Washington Redskins to the Washington football team before the start of the 2020 season in the middle of a summer of racial tensions. The team finally became Washington’s commanders, and Snyder sold the team to Josh Harris.

In July 2021, the owner of the team Paul Dolan announced that the Cleveland Indians would become the guardians of Cleveland. Cleveland had been known as the Indians since 1915. Dolan said previously that the decision to explore the name change came from “an awakening or epiphany” after George Floyd’s death.
Anyway, the impulse to maintain the names of the teams of the Native Americans has been strong, particularly with the organization of the commanders. Trump already expressed his belief that the commanders made a mistake when they changed the name of the Redskins.
“Washington ‘whatever it is’ should immediately change your name to the Washington Redskins football team. There is a big cry for this,” Trump wrote in Truth Social on Sunday. “Similarly, the Cleveland Indians, one of the six original baseball teams, with a historical past.
“Our great Indian people, in large quantities, want this to happen. His inheritance and prestige are systematically removed. Times are different now that three or four years ago. We are a country of passion and common sense. Owners, do it!”

Harris said in the “special report” of Pak Gazette Channel in April that the team would not bring back the name of the Redskins even with plans to build a new stadium in Washington, DC
“The name of the commanders has actually acquired a surprising type of element in our building,” Harris replied to Bret Baier’s question about the name of Redskins that returns as part of this new stadium agreement. “So, people that certain types of players are difficult, who love football, are delegated commanders and Jayden [Daniels]For example, he is a commander, and are classified.
“And, you know, the commercial staff has gotten into it, and obviously, we are in a military city here. There are more military personnel than anywhere else, so we are moving forward with the name of the commanders, excited about that and not looking back.”

Guardians team officials have not indicated that the old name returns.
